Services Offered
We offer Person Centered Planning, as well support in transitioning and participating in the Self-Determination Program through San Diego Regional Center. Additionally, we offer educational liaison services to support clients with 504 or IEPs, while maintaining a positive working relationship with your child's educational team.
The State of California has approved funding to help facilitate the transition of Regional Center clients into the Self-Determination Program (SDP). The state will fund transition services support when moving from the traditional system to the Self-Determination Program. This means that the Person Centered Planning process and the advocacy and support services to assist in your transition to the Self-Determination Program is NO COST to your family!
Person Centered Planning
The person-centered planning process utilizes the client's vision for their future and their circle of support to ultimately lead to a written plan that is consistent with the person’s needs and desired outcomes, including the person’s goals and preferences in areas such as recreation, transportation, friendships, therapies, home, employment, and family relationships.

Transition into the Self-Determination Program
The role of the Independent Facilitator during the transition into the Self-Determination Program includes such things as:
Support in presenting the Person Centered Plan
Identifying unmet needs that require support & services from Regional Center
Working with your Regional Center team to develop an appropriate individual budget based on client needs
Creating a spending plan
Support in connecting with an FMS
Identifying and coordinating services, staff, resources as needed
Advocacy in IPP meeting
Cost: Funded by the State of California. NO out of pocket cost! NO cost from your individual budget!
This service is only available to clients of San Diego Regional Center.
Ongoing Independent Facilitation
Once in the Self-Determination Program, ongoing IF work includes such things as:
Tracking spending
Coordinating with the FMS
Revising/ resubmitting spending plan
Identifying and coordinating services, staff, resources as needed
General advocacy
Preparing for annual IPP, next year's budget, and next year's spending plan
Cost: No out of pocket cost. Service fees are paid out of client's individual budget. Levels of support can vary depending on individual client's needs.

Additional Educational Liaison Services
I offer collaborative and respectful support for working with your child's educational team. As an education specialist myself, I understand wanting to have a positive working relationships with your child's teachers and school team. Hiring an advocate does not have to mean having a contiguous relationship with your child's educational team. Instead, I provide a bridge between family and school by asking the right questions, checking accuracy of the plan, & understanding your wants and goals for your child and ensure that they are reflected in these essential legal documents.
~Feel confident in your understanding of the special education process.
~Work as a collaborative team with your child's school district before you get to a point of requiring legal action.
Review and consultation of 504/ IEP documents
Representation, support, & advocacy at IEP or 504 Plan meetings
FREE 30 minute phone or video consultation
